National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) Chicago Chapter Scholarship
Organization & Scholarship Overview:
The National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) was founded in 1997 by Jerald L. Tillman, LUTCF, in Cincinnati, Ohio. NAAIA Chicago was awarded its charter on June 12, 2003, and remains one of the largest chapters of the organization to date. Our mission is to increase the number of minorities in the insurance industry at both the corporate and agency levels. We serve as a support group to encourage successful career advancement by promoting the highest educational and ethical standards while networking effectively in and outside of the industry.
In 2006, NAAIA Chicago began our mission to expose young people in our community to the insurance industry by recognizing their positive accomplishments and helping them meet a financial need as they advance their education. Since then, we have awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving students in the Chicagoland area. The 14th Annual NAAIA Chicago Scholarship Luncheon will be held at the Union League Club in Chicago, Illinois on May 14, 2020, and scholarship recipients will be our guests of honor. Through these scholarships, NAAIA Chicago is proud to reach out to the next generation of industry talent. Our theme for 2020 is “Excellence in the Past, Making a Difference in the Future”. In supporting the outstanding academic achievements and personal triumphs of these young people, we cement our legacy and invest in future leaders.
