AKA Imani Pearls Community Development Foundation - Business and STEM Scholarships

Organization & Scholarship Description:
The Imani Pearls Community Development Foundation (IPCDF) is offering educational scholarship opportunities to high school seniors planning to attend a college or university in the fall. IPCDF is offering the Helen R. Jackson Scholarship specifically to male high school senior students planning to major in business at a two-year college or a four-year college or university. IPCDF is also offering the Dana G. Woodley Scholarship specifically to students who demonstrate a financial need as they pursue a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education at a college or university. Preference will be given to those male high school seniors who have permanent residency or attend school in the Bronzeville, Douglas, Washington Park, Grand Boulevard, Oakland, Kenwood, Hyde Park or Englewood community.

  • Male high school senior (class of 2020) planning to major in business at a two-year college or a four-year college or university
  • 2.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average or higher (unweighted)

  1. A Completed Scholarship Application
  2. Submission of typed essay (500 words/1 page)
    Essay Topic: What is the one thing you would change about your life, (or the world or your community, etc.) if there were no barriers to making the change happen?
  3. Most recent official transcript in a sealed envelope OR emailed directly from the school with an official seal
  4. An acceptance letter or other proof of enrollment on official letterhead from the two-year college or the four-year college or university you will attend during the 2019-2020 academic year

Dana G. Woodley Scholarship Eligibility Requirents:

  • High school senior planning to pursue a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education at a college or university
  • Must have a 3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average or higher (unweighted)
  • The applicant must have proof of residency or attend school in Illinois, Indiana, or Michigan
  • Must demonstrate financial need (FAFSA)

Complete Applications consist of…

  1. A Completed Scholarship Application
  2. Submission of a typed essay (500-700 words)
    Essay Topic: How do you see yourself giving back to your community with the skills that you plan to gain with your degree?
  3. The most recent official transcript in a sealed envelope OR emailed directly to scholarships@ipcdf.org from the high school with an official seal.
  4. An acceptance letter on official letterhead from the four-year institution you will attend during the 2019-2020 academic year.
  5. Proof of all community service hours performed during your high school career (documented on an organization’s letterhead); a minimum of 40 hours is required.
  6. A letter of support from a counselor or advisor on letterhead illustrating the applicant’s need for financial assistance.
  7. Two (2) letters of recommendation written during the current academic year (not dated before September 2019), addressed to IPCDF. One must be a character reference on official letterhead from a school official or a service organization with which you have volunteered. The second letter must be from an unrelated person of your choice.
