Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship

Organization and Scholarship Description
The Illinois CPA Society scholarships are funded by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois. The scholarships recognize accounting students and CPA candidates who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership qualities, and financial need.

Eligibility Requirements:
All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident and be an Illinois resident.
  • Be enrolled in an Illinois college or university.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 or equivalent.
  • Plan to sit for the CPA exam in Illinois within three years of application date, and demonstrate progress in a course of study in accounting.
  • Demonstrate achievement and financial need.

Accounting Tuition and Textbooks Scholarships:

  • Tuition scholarships of up to $4,000 each are available. Applicants must be a senior or graduate student for the upcoming academic year. Textbook scholarships of up to $500 each are available. Applicants must be a junior, senior, or graduate student for the following academic year. This scholarship reimburses the cost of books and required classroom materials. This scholarship does not cover the cost of tuition or CPA exam review courses.

Herman J. Neal Accounting Tuition Scholarships:

  • This scholarship was established in honor of the late Dr. Herman J. Neal, a distinguished Chicago physician, to memorialize his strong commitment to opening doors of opportunity and education for African-Americans. Scholarships of up to $4,000 each are available. Applicants must be an African-American junior, senior, or graduate student for the upcoming academic year.

Women’s Executive Committee Advancing Women in Accounting Scholarships:

  • In May 2004, the Society’s Women’s Executive Committee established this Fund to create advancement opportunities for women in the CPA profession in Illinois. The scholarship recognizes outstanding female accounting students who demonstrate leadership potential. Scholarships of up to $4,000 each are available. Applicants must be a female senior or graduate student for the upcoming academic year.
