Scholarship Overview:
IPLSA offers Scholarships and other Awards for Students. Scholarship and Award submissions are evaluated by a committee of Professional Land Surveyors. Applications are due by November 14 of each year unless otherwise noted on the application. Scholarships and awards are presented at the IPLSA Annual Conference, held in February of each year.

Application: IPLSA Student Scholarship Award
Eligibility Criteria:

  • Proof of enrollment in spring semester or acceptance by a college or university.
  • Must pursue a degree in land surveying OR a related science including at least 24 semester hours of land surveyingcourses from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation Land Surveyors Licensing Board.
  • Transcripts from previous semester showing GPA (freshman should submit copy of High School transcripts).
  • Brief statement of:
    1) Work history
    2) Extracurricular activities related to surveying (part time or summer employment in surveying, involvement in IPLSA Student Chapter and any offices held, attendance of any seminars / conferences, involvement in summer survey camps, etc.)
    3) Goals (including applicant’s plans for a formal education and career)
    4) Merit (awards by city, church, school, service club, etc., or by performance; GPA, honors society, officer in organizations)
    5) Short (200 words or less) bio

Application: IPLSA Community College Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be an Illinois resident
  • Be a current Community College student pursuing a degree associated with the Land Surveying Profession.
  • Be registered for classes at a Community College
  • Have a minimum overall grade point average GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Proof of enrollment
  • Transcript showing GPA
  • One (minimum) to three (maximum) letters of recommendation, including one from a faculty member familiar with applicants work
  • Brief statement (one to five pages)of:
    1) Work history
    2) Extracurricular activities – both those related to surveying (involvement in IPLSA Student Chapter, attendance of any seminars/conferences) and others
    3) Goals (including applicant’s plans for a formal education and career)
    4) Merit (awards by city, church, school, service club, etc., or by performance; GPA, honors society, officer in organizations)
    5) Financial need
    6) Short (200 words or less) bio
