Raising Hope Scholarship - The Tiara M. Parks Uplift Foundation

Organization & Scholarship Description:
The Raising Hope Scholarship is in honor of Tiara Parks who was killed by gun violence in 2016. The scholarship award is for graduating high school students as well as currently enrolled college students between the ages of 18 and 23 years old that have been impacted by gun violence and show promise of hope for a brighter future by actively engaging in their community and maintaining academic success. The award is for educational expenses such as tuition, course materials and fees, and books. The Tiara M. Parks Uplift Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the goal of helping uplift the lives of young people that have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling, or legal guardian to gun violence. Our vision is to actively engage our community and encourage them to participate in guiding our youth to a brighter future through cultural enrichment, mentoring and scholarship programs. Gun violence has become a huge problem in our society and it has affected the lives of many people that live in our own communities. We are working tirelessly to help end the gun violence and support the survivors in restoring their lives. This scholarship opportunity is not limited to Chicago Public School students.
