Worrill’s World Dr. Conrad Worrill Scholarship

Scholarship Overview & Description:
The Worrill’s World Scholarship will award three $500 scholarships to Chicago Public Schools graduating seniors. Dr. Conrad Worrill was a 1959 graduate of Hyde Park High School. As a longtime supporter of Chicago Public Schools, Dr. Worrill wanted students in Chicago to thrive as they embarked upon their post-secondary pursuits. In his honor, Dr. Worrill’s family along with the support of Rev. Al Sampson are proud to present this scholarship to three deserving Chicago Public School students.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • African-American male or female student
  • 2020 graduate of any Chicago Public School
  • Majoring in social sciences or education; preference given to students majoring in African-American Studies or Studies of the African Diaspora.

Required Documentation:
(Applicants must submit all of the following documentation via tinyurl.com/WorrillScholarship2020 to be considered for the scholarship).

  1. Acceptance letter from a college/University
  2. One written recommendation from a school administrator, teacher, or counselor.
  3. An essay not to exceed 500 words: Topic – How will you use your major to improve the social conditions of African-American people?
  4. An official or unofficial transcript

The awards recipients will be required to submit proof of college registration and a letter of appreciation to acknowledge their receipt of the scholarship award. The letter will be required before scholarship funds are released.
