Metra Safety Poster and Essay Contest

Organization & Scholarship Overview:
The Safety Poster Contest is a key part of our ongoing effort to increase public awareness of lifesaving railroad safety practices. The theme for the 2021-2022 school year: “Safety Is A Choice You Make" emphasizes the importance of looking for and obeying signs and control devices that are installed along the railroad tracks and at rail crossings.

Eligibility: The contest is open to all students in grades K through 12 living or attending school in Metra’s six-county service area: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will.
Essay Entry Criteria: Participants are asked to explain in 300 words or less why it is important to “Safety Is A Choice You Make” when near trains and railroad tracks.
