Kao Kalia Yang Scholarship Program

Scholarship Overview:
The Robin-Hwajin Yoon Kim Foundation, which supports education, the underprivileged, and positive social impact initiatives has established the “Kao Kalia Yang Scholarship” to help economically-challenged Hmong American youth fulfill their dreams of obtaining higher education.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Blood descendants of Hmong race or ethnically identified as Hmong American (with citizenship or as a permanent resident)
  • High school seniors who reside in the United States
  • Plan to attend a U.S. Accredited 4-Year College/University or Community College as a 1st year student in Fall 2023 (if selected, must submit college acceptance letter for verification)
  • A minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 2.0
  • A household income at or below the Federal/State/County Low Income Level (must be able to show 2021 or 2022 tax return should applicant be selected for award)
  • Open to ALL MAJORS

  2. Recommender Form
  3. High School Transcript
  4. Online interview (to be scheduled if selected as finalist)

All materials must be RECEIVED by 11:59pm Chicago Time, Saturday, April 3, 2023. Anything received (whether mailed, emailed, or faxed) past that date and time will not be considered, regardless of the postmark. Application and recommender forms MUST be submitted online – Hard copies will NOT be accepted.
