2022/2023 Power Construction Scholarship

This is the 4th year that Power Construction has awarded scholarships to Chicagoland High School Seniors that are pursuing a 4-year degree in Construction Management or a related field. These scholarships are renewable on a yearly basis over the course of the student’s degree pursuit.

Power will be awarding scholarships worth an annual amount of $1,500-$5,000. Again, these are renewable, so the total amount of scholarship aid can amount to $10,000-$20,000 over the course of 4 years.

In addition to the scholarship funding, selected candidates will also participate in our Power Scholar’s Program. Between the four yearly installments of your scholarship award, Power will be by your side to support your personal, professional and academic growth along the way. Our Power Scholars program was added to allow scholarship recipients an enhanced college experience. Some of the ways Power champions students is by providing Power mentors, alumni and professor connections, industry networking, job search coaching, interview and resume prep, job site shadow opportunities, yearly scholarship renewal touch bases, consideration for internship and fulltime work opportunities and so much more.

We have found that high schoolers are generally unaware of the variety of opportunities available in construction management. Students often equate the industry with the construction trades – carpenters, laborers, etc. – and construction management with the foremen that oversee physical labor. Students are usually unaware that these are high-paying careers for college graduates! Many high schoolers are surprised to know that if they pursue a 4-year degree in Engineering, they can earn $72k in their first year of employment. Power Construction is Chicago’s largest general contractor, with revenues topping $1 billion annually. Our industry is in constant need for talented young engineers with a passion for the built environment. Our industry is also acutely in need of female and/or minority construction management candidates – populations that are drastically underrepresented in the industry.

Our goal is to shape the industry by directly financially supporting underrepresented students in their educational endeavors to pursue construction.

Power Construction is again looking to award scholarships to exceptional students that meet the following criteria:

U.S. Citizen
Female and/or minority
Anticipated graduation from a Chicagoland area High School (Cook, DuPage, McHenry, Kane, Will, Lake or Kendall County)
Intent to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in(removing semicolon here) Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other construction-related major
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (or demonstration of continued improvement)
Must be enrolled in a collegiate program for the 2022 – 2023 academic year
