EOIP STEM SCHOLARSHIP
Mission
The Essence of Ivy and Pearls Foundation (EOIP) is the philanthropic arm of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Incorporated, Phi Kappa Omega Chapter. The Essence of Ivy and Pearls Foundation seeks to
spark change in the greater Chicagoland community it serves by providing scholarships, family
programs, health services and educational resources.
The Scholarship Program began in 2003 with donations from the community and chapter members.
Since then, EOIP have awarded a total of over 60 gifts to deserving young men and women enrolled in
various colleges and universities. In keeping with Phi Kappa Omega’s, unwavering commitment to post-
secondary education, EOIP recognizes African-American students attending or currently enrolled at four-
year degree granting institutions. EOIP is dedicated to distinguishing students with outstanding
contributions to community service and academic excellence. Strengthening this legacy, is the
foundation of each of our scholarship awards.
Award Description
The recipient of this scholarship will receive a $1,500 award; this award is non-renewable and is awarded
to a male or female student for any level of undergraduate study at an accredited, college or university
within the United States. The student must be able to show proof of full time enrollment or acceptance
letter from a STEM program, and/or a letter of admission into an accredited STEM college program for
example College of Engineering. All awards will be paid directly to the student.
Nomination and Eligibility
Nominations for the EOIP Scholarship Program are open provided the following initial eligibility criteria
are met:
Complete This Application ONLY if you are:
A permanent resident of Cook County Illinois. Your parent/guardian must also reside in Cook County
Illinois upon your entrance into college.
An African-American female or male student graduating high school or currently enrolled in a four-
year college or university with at least a B average (GPA-3.0/4.0 or 4.0/5.0) Student must be
attending a four-year degree granting institution within the United States for the fall semester of the
2019 school year.
Able to show proof of full time enrollment or acceptance letter from a STEM program, and/or a letter
of admission into an accredited STEM college program, for example College of Engineering.
Able to show proof with a College Acceptance letter or college official transcript of full-time
enrollment or acceptance in a four-year college or university in the United States by April 15, 2023.
Not a relative [by virtue of blood, marriage or generational relations] of a member of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc., Phi Kappa Omega Chapter.
Not a previous recipient of any Essence of Ivy and Pearls Foundation scholarships. Please refer to
the Previous Essence of Ivy and Pearls Foundation Scholarship for 2020.
Disbursement
Disbursement of scholarship monies will be granted on July 14, 2023.
