Organization & Scholarship Description:
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a public service sorority founded in 1913. In keeping with the foundation set forth by the Sorority’s 22 Founders, the Scholarship Committee of Chicago Alumnae Chapter develops and administers the scholarship programs of the chapter in support of high school students who wish to attain higher education and with college students previously awarded. The students who are eligible to apply come from various Chicago area high schools. Those awarded also receive a mentor from the chapter who assists awardees in a myriad of areas: studying; college life; academics; and interviewing skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 2024 graduating high school senior
  • African-American or African descent
  • Resident of Chicago
  • Meet AT LEAST ONE of the following requirements (schools and exceptions listed below):
    (1) Attend one of the DST 2023-2024 target CPS high schools; OR
    (2) Be an active participant of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Chicago Alumnae Chapters Youth Initiative Programs
  • Have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5
  • Demonstrate financial need via FAFSA

Exception: Students who are members of the Delta Sigma Theta Chicago Alumnae Chapter’s Delta GEM or EMBODI Programs CAN ALL APPLY for this scholarship REGARDLESS of which CPS high school or charter school they attend.
