Organization & Scholarship Overview:
Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to invite you to take part in the chapter’s Scholarship Competition. For years we have selected scholarship recipients from high schools across Chicago based on academic performance, activity in the community and personal character. We look forward to awarding more deserving students in 2024!

Eligible students must be AFRICAN-AMERICAN/BLACK MALE high school seniors, attending schools in Chicago, with at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA, and will begin college in the fall of 2024. We urge you to carefully review the enclosed materials and submit a scholarship application along with all attachments. Our chapter is committed to identifying and awarding scholarships to deserving students who will be furthering their education
by enrolling at an accredited four-year college or university.

The application/questionnaire is designed to collect academic and personal background information for the selection process. Your response to the questions is a decisive factor in the selection process. You must answer all questions thoroughly and honestly. Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be African American/Black MALE
  • 2024 Graduating high school senior from a Chicago school
  • Minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Beginning college as of the 2024 fall semester, full-time at an accredited college or university
  • Community service

Required Documentation:

  1. An essay of 250-500 words
  2. Your FAFSA Student Aid Report
  3. Submit your high school transcript
  4. Letter of Recommendation from three (3) people who know the applicant’s character, abilities, and potential (Letters can be from a counselor, teacher, community leader, or non-family member.)
    Note: Two (2) of the references should be current teachers or school administrators.

Only scholarship recipients will be notified by June 1, 2024. Recipients will receive their award certificates during
an awards dinner in June 2024 (exact date to be determined/date subject to change). If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be
expected to confirm your final enrollment plans and begin full-time study in the fall of 2024, before receiving
your cash award. Detailed instructions will be given to each recipient after the awards dinner.
