Alpha Gamma Pi Sorority Scholarship

Scholarship & Organization Description:
Alpha Gamma Pi Sorority, Inc. was founded by Alberta Myers, Youth Editor of the Chicago Daily Defender, in June of 1963. The mission of the sorority is to honor progressive Black women of achievement and to award scholarships annually to carefully selected graduating African-American college-bound female seniors.
The organization annually provides financial support to college-bound African-American female high school graduates from Chicago public schools. Since 1965, young women have received scholarships based on their outstanding academic performance, extramural activities and community service. Financial need can be a consideration.

Award Amount:
Alpha Gamma Pi Sorority will award one (1) $2,500 renewable scholarship and two (2) non-renewable $1,000 scholarships.

Scholarship Qualifications:

  • CPS senior (class of 2017)
  • African-American
  • Female
  • Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Minimum ACT of 20
  • Proof of volunteer service (school, community, etc.)
  • Must be attending a regionally accredited college or university in the fall of 2017.
