The Fernando Jones Blues Camp Scholarship
Organization & Scholarship Overview:
Blues Kids Foundation proudly presents Fernando Jones’ Blues Camp Sunday, July 7th to Friday, July 12th in the Music Center on the campus of Columbia College Chicago. Through this priceless, fun-filled weeklong experience your Blues Kid will learn and perform America’s “roots” music in a structured program with like minded others under the tutelage of highly qualified instructors. Internationally known Bluesman Fernando Jones founded Blues Camp, an international organization, and established it Monday, July 5, 2010 on the campus of Columbia College Chicago in the Music Center. Jones said, “It has been a dream since childhood to have a centrally located place where children could come and play the Blues in a user friendly, nurturing environment on a college or performing arts campus.” If your Blues Kid is a beginner, intermediate or advanced player then they might be the ideal candidate. We are not looking for the best “Blues Kid” players in the world. We are looking for Blues Kid who “wants to be” in this program. However, they must audition with one of the songs here, not one of their choosing. Then we will do our best to place them by their skillset according to our Blues Camp ensemble instrumentation need(s) and position availability. Entry is competitive and spaces fill-up fast.
